Orthodontic appliance cleaning

When fixed orthodontic braces are bonded onto teeth, they may be there for 2 years or more. During that time, people with such appliances should take extra care when wearing their braces as the teeth and gums are more difficulty to keep clean.

Usually a small type of toothbrush will need to be used as well as a normal larger brush to clean the brackets properly. This shows the use of an Interdental brush to neatly get into the awkward bits. This must be done at least once every day - ideally twice.

Occassional checking of your routine with 'disclosing tablets' (ask your dentist) will confirm that you are getting everything clean.
