When a tooth is absent a bridge can be made, which is a new porcelain replacement tooth which is held in position by the teeth beside the gap. The strength of the adjacent teeth needs to be assessed and although usually the teeth either side of the gap will need to be included to support the new tooth replacement, sometimes only one is needed.

Dentures

The least invasive way of replacing lost teeth is using a denture, when the lost teeth are replaced by acrylic teeth, held by the denture base. Dentures can be made for top or bottom teeth and the base structure of the denture can be either acrylic or Cobalt Chromium Steel, which is strong in thin section.
