What if I have a dental emergency outside surgery hours?

Emergency dental help is available out of hours – but the emergency treatment you receive depends on how you pay for your dental care;

Emergency dental help for Denplan patients

If you have a problem on weekends and have Denplan cover, call 07368361497, between 8am and 9am. Then we can give advice or arrange for you to be seen – but there is a £20 call out fee if your dentist has to open the surgery out of hours.

You can also call Denplan’s Dental Emergency Helpline to discuss your dental problem and options for emergency treatment. This helpline is especially useful if you suffer a dental injury or emergency away from home. If you’re more than 40 miles away, Denplan will try to locate an emergency dental practice nearby.

Denplan also offers emergency dental help abroad

If you’re reading this in a hotel room (and cursing the toothache that’s spoiling your holiday) don’t panic! Just contact the helpline and an advisor will give you a list of local emergency dentists. Then you can access your treatment and hopefully you’ll be back on the beach in no time.

Denplan’s emergency numbers:
From the UK – call 0800 844999
From abroad – call +44 (0)1962 844999
For Denplan’s Insurance Team – call 0800 085 0960 or email insurance@denplan.co.uk

Emergency dental help for Private (pay-as-you-go) patients

If you don’t have a current dental plan with us or NHS exemption, call the surgery on 01656 782365. The answering machine will give you all the information you need – but please remember, the earlier you call, the more likely we will be able to see you.

Emergency dental help for NHS patients

The NHS provides a Dental Emergency Advice Line via NHS Direct. If you have an emergency, call 0845 4647 or 111 and they’ll offer treatment according to the level of emergency.

Please note: a dental problem may not be classed as a dental emergency – for example, a chipped tooth will not usually qualify for emergency treatment.
